Specialist supercar finance rates in 2026 range from 4.0% to 7.0% APR depending on the vehicle value, loan-to-value ratio, the borrower's profile, and whether the finance is hire purchase (HP) or a bespoke structured product. This is the only dedicated supercar finance rate guide published by a UK broker — mainstream lenders do not offer this product and competitor content is thin or absent.

What determines your rate

Vehicle value

Larger loans attract more lender competition and better rates — the sweet spot for the sharpest supercar finance rates is £150,000–£500,000. Below £50,000, specialist supercar lenders rarely compete — standard HP at higher rates applies. Above £500,000, private bank and bespoke lender facilities at competitive rates are available.

Deposit (LTV)

A larger deposit directly reduces the rate in specialist supercar finance, as in all asset-secured lending. At 30%–40% deposit (60%–70% LTV), rates are at the sharper end. At 10%–20% deposit (80%–90% LTV), both rate and lender availability reduce significantly.

Vehicle age and specification

Current-generation supercars (5 years old or less) attract the best rates — residual values are well-documented and depreciation curves are understood by specialist lenders. Very new limited editions may require specialist valuation. Pre-1990 classics carry higher rates due to value volatility.

Borrower profile

Income, credit profile, existing finance commitments, and net worth all affect the rate. A high-net-worth borrower with proven income and minimal existing finance accesses the sharpest rates. JBR Capital and Close Brothers both assess the full borrower profile, not just income multiples.

HP vs bespoke structured product

Standard hire purchase is the most common structure. Some specialist lenders (particularly for £250,000+ vehicles) offer bespoke structures — balloon payment HP, tailored amortisation schedules, or deferred capital products. These can lower the monthly payment compared to straight-line HP on high-value vehicles.

Worked cost example

Scenario: £180,000 Ferrari F8 Tributo. Finance: £126,000 (70% LTV). 4-year term. HP at 5.2% APR.

Monthly payment (HP, capital + interest)
£2,909/month
Total interest over 4-year term
£13,632
Total repayable
£139,632

At a lower rate of 4.5% APR (with larger deposit — 35% / LTV 65%)

Finance amount: £117,000. Monthly payment: £2,701. Total interest: £12,648.

Monthly saving over 4 years
£208/month (£9,984 over term)

Rate note: 5.2% APR on £126,000 over 4 years costs significantly less in total than 7.0% APR.

7.0% APR on same: monthly £3,007. Total interest: £18,336. Additional cost vs 5.2%: £4,704 over term.

Market context

Rate context and outlook

Supercar finance rates in 2026 have held broadly stable after rising through 2023–2024. JBR Capital (backed by Shawbrook Bank) remains the market leader for specialist supercar and prestige car finance. Close Brothers Motor Finance also competes in the specialist segment. High-end manufacturer finance (Ferrari Financial Services, Lamborghini Financial Services) is sometimes competitive for new vehicles direct from dealer but rarely beats specialist broker access to the full market for used vehicles or complex profiles.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What finance options are available for a supercar?

The primary options are: hire purchase (HP) — own the car at the end of the term; PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) — lower monthly payments with an optional balloon at the end; lease (contract hire) — never own the car, monthly rental; and bespoke structured products for very high-value vehicles. HP is the most common for supercars over £100,000 as it provides ownership and allows modifications without restriction.

Can I get supercar finance with bad credit?

It is difficult but not impossible. Specialist lenders assess the full profile — if the borrower has significant net worth, property equity, or other assets alongside a credit issue, some specialist lenders can accommodate. The rate will be higher and the deposit requirement greater. Discuss your specific credit situation before any formal application — we advise on what is realistically achievable.

What is the minimum deposit for specialist supercar finance?

Most specialist supercar finance lenders require a minimum deposit of 20%–30% for vehicles above £50,000. The sharper rates (4.0%–5.0% APR) require deposits of 30%–40%. Below 20% deposit, lender choice narrows significantly and rates increase.

Can I finance a supercar as a non-UK resident?

Yes — DBF has a specific Expat Supercar Finance service. Specialist lenders with appetite for non-resident supercar finance are accessed through our panel. The deposit requirement is typically higher for non-residents (30%–40%). See our Expat Supercar Finance section for full detail.

Do I need specialist supercar insurance alongside specialist finance?

Yes — mainstream motor insurers typically decline supercars above £100,000 or impose very high premiums. Specialist supercar insurers (Hagerty, JBR Capital's insurance referral panel, specialist brokers) provide appropriate agreed-value policies. Some specialist finance lenders require evidence of agreed-value supercar insurance as a condition of the finance.
