The Challenge
An associate dentist had been working in an established practice for six years and was offered the opportunity to acquire it when the principal retired. The practice had 3,200 active patients, NHS and private income streams, and three treatment rooms. The associate knew the practice well but had never borrowed at this scale.
Our Solution
Doulton arranged specialist dental practice acquisition finance. The NHS contract value, patient list size, and private revenue were all assessed. Dental practices are considered strong lending propositions given the sticky patient base and regulated NHS income. A ten-year term provided affordable monthly repayments.
The Outcome
Practice acquired by the associate. Patient retention in year one was 96% - above the industry average for practice sales. NHS contract renewed without issue. The dentist is now considering acquiring a second practice. Key highlights: Specialist dental acquisition finance - NHS contract income assessed; 96% patient retention in year one - above industry average; 10-year term made repayments affordable from day one.
