About Lombard Catamaran Finance
Lombard, the asset finance arm of NatWest Group, brings institutional scale and underwriting rigour to catamaran finance. It is among the few UK lenders that actively courts the high-value end of the multihull market - particularly where the catamaran is acquired as a business asset, whether for charter operations, corporate hospitality, or company ownership structures. With rates from 5.5% APR and a ceiling of 8.5%, Lombard's pricing is among the most competitive in our panel for applicants who fit their criteria.
The 75% LTV cap and £50,000 minimum advance reflect Lombard's focus on substantive transactions: buyers financing catamarans valued at £200,000 and above will generally find Lombard a natural fit, particularly if the purchase is through a limited company where HP finance can be treated as a business expense. The 12-year maximum term is the principal constraint compared to peers - a Lagoon 50 or Fountaine Pajot Alegria 67 financed over 12 years will carry materially higher monthly payments than the same amount spread over 15 or 20 years.
Catamaran flag registration is an area where Lombard applies more conservative criteria. UK Part 1 registration is strongly preferred; BVI or French registration typically requires re-flagging as a condition of drawdown, which is a practical step but one that takes several weeks to complete. Doulton Bridging Finance advises catamaran buyers to initiate this process in parallel with the finance application wherever Lombard is the preferred lender.
Where Lombard excels is in complex business transactions - purchase through a special purpose vehicle, lease structures, or high-value transactions requiring institutional credit appetite. We hold a direct relationship with Lombard's marine team and can present your application with the framing that maximises approval probability.
