A waste management business was expanding its operations to include a licensed waste transfer station, requiring three additional tipper trucks and a waste sorting conveyor system. The tippers were best financed on hire purchase (ownership desired) while the conveyor system was better suited to a finance lease (off balance sheet). A mixed facility was needed.
Our Solution
Doulton structured a combined facility - hire purchase for the three tippers and a finance lease for the conveyor system - with a single monthly payment and single lender. The waste management licence and Environment Agency permit were confirmed as conditions of lending. The mixed-structure facility was unusual but executed cleanly.
The Outcome
Tippers and conveyor operational together for the waste transfer station launch. The station's tipping fee income from commercial customers was generating £32,000 per month within six months of opening.
