How Classic Car Equity Release Works
If you own a classic car outright - or have significant equity in one - you can borrow against it as security. The lender places a charge over the vehicle (it remains with you but title is held as security until the loan is repaid). This gives you a lump sum of capital while retaining your asset.
Typical Terms
- LTV: typically 50–70% of independently assessed value
- Terms: 12–60 months
- Rates: 10–14% APR (higher than standard HP due to refinance risk)
- The vehicle remains with you - stored and insured to lender requirements
Worked Example: £200,000 Classic Ferrari - 60% LTV = £120,000 Released
