The Process

How it works

01

Aircraft details

Tell us the aircraft type, manufacturer, model, registration, year, total airframe hours, engine hours, and current CofA status. We identify the right specialist aviation lenders immediately.

02

Competitive terms

We source hire purchase, finance lease, and operating lease terms from specialist aviation lenders. Most light aircraft and helicopter decisions return within 24 hours. Business jet finance takes 48-72 hours.

03

CAA mortgage and CofA

All UK aircraft finance requires a current Certificate of Airworthiness. For finance above approximately £30,000, a CAA aircraft mortgage is registered against the G-register entry. We coordinate with specialist aviation solicitors throughout.

04

Settlement and handover

We settle with the seller, dealer, or manufacturer. The aircraft mortgage is registered at the CAA. The aircraft is yours - flying while you spread the cost over the agreed term.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Does the aircraft need to be G-registered for UK finance?

Most UK specialist aviation lenders require G-registration (UK CAA Civil Aircraft Register). Foreign-registered aircraft (N-reg, D-reg, F-reg) can be financed but with a narrower lender panel - often requiring specialist international aviation lenders or re-registration to G-reg before finance completes.

What is a CAA aircraft mortgage?

A CAA aircraft mortgage is a charge registered against the aircraft's entry on the UK Civil Aviation Authority aircraft register - the aviation equivalent of a ship's mortgage. It gives the lender enforceable security over the aircraft in the event of default. Specialist aviation solicitors handle the registration.

Do I need a current Certificate of Airworthiness to get aircraft finance?

Yes - all specialist aviation lenders require a current Certificate of Airworthiness (CofA) or Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) as a pre-condition of drawdown. If the CofA is close to expiry, budget for the annual inspection before applying.

What deposit is needed for aircraft finance?

Typically 10-25% of the aircraft's current market value, depending on the aircraft type, age, and your financial profile. GA aircraft from major manufacturers at the lower end; older, more specialist, or higher-value aircraft at the higher end.

Can I finance a syndicate aircraft purchase?

Yes - aircraft finance for syndicates of 2-4 co-owners is available from specialist aviation lenders. The agreement is structured to reflect the shared ownership arrangement, with each co-owner typically signing as joint borrower. We advise on the most appropriate structure.
