What Is Agricultural Materials Handling Equipment Finance?

Materials handling finance covers any credit facility used to acquire equipment whose primary purpose is moving, lifting, loading or storing agricultural produce or farm inputs. This includes telehandlers (the most commonly financed category), loading shovels, grain augers, conveyor systems, pallet handlers, bale handlers and forklift trucks used on farm.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What counts as agricultural materials handling equipment?

Telehandlers, loading shovels, grain handlers, straw and silage handlers, conveyor systems, grain augers, forklift trucks used on farm, pallet handlers and bale handlers all qualify as agricultural materials handling equipment for finance purposes.

Can I finance multiple pieces of equipment together?

Yes. A multi-asset facility or block discounting arrangement can finance several pieces of equipment under a single agreement, sometimes at a better blended rate than individual agreements.

Do I need accounts to apply for agricultural equipment finance?

Most lenders will want to see two to three years of accounts for established farming businesses. For newer businesses or sole traders, SA302s, bank statements and asset schedules may suffice. Specialist lenders exist for non-standard situations.

Can I get finance for equipment that I am buying privately (not from a dealer)?

Yes, though the lender will want to conduct due diligence on the asset. Private purchase HP is available for most telehandlers and materials handlers subject to age, condition and valuation.

What if I have an existing loan on the equipment?

A refinance or settlement of the existing agreement and arrangement of new finance is possible. We can calculate whether a refinance makes financial sense based on your current rate, remaining term and equipment value.

Asset finance for business purposes is not regulated by the FCA. Rates shown are indicative as at October 2026 and depend on credit profile, term, asset and deposit. We act as a credit broker, not a lender. Your asset may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments.
