Why do mainstream lenders decline vacuum excavator finance?
Most asset lenders price risk using published residual value tables. Vacuum excavators are not widely traded at auction and do not appear in standard tables. Specialist lenders within our panel use operator assessment and comparable sales to establish value - this is the segment Doulton operates in.
Can I finance a used vacuum excavator?
Yes - machines to 10 years old are funded on hire purchase with a current inspection report and service records. Machines over 10 years are assessed on a case-by-case basis, with a detailed inspection report required.
Does NRSWA accreditation help the application?
Yes. Street Works (NRSWA) accreditation signals to lenders that the operator is established, compliant and operating on licensed highways - this reduces perceived risk and can improve the rate offered.
How long does it take to get terms?
Standard vacuum excavators under £150,000: indicative terms typically within 24-48 hours. Larger or specialist machines: 3-5 working days. A soft credit search is done before commitment - no impact on your credit file.
