Why Cobots Are an Ideal Financed Asset

Collaborative robots are one of the fastest-growing segments in UK manufacturing automation. Unlike traditional industrial robots, cobots:

  • Cost £15k–£80k - a manageable ticket size for most UK SMEs
  • Are easy to redeploy across tasks - maintaining high residual value for lenders
  • Generate measurable ROI quickly - making finance payments easy to justify from productivity gains
  • Require minimal installation infrastructure - reducing total project cost

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is a cobot and can it be financed?

A cobot (collaborative robot) is a robot designed to work safely alongside humans without a safety cage. Cobots from manufacturers such as Universal Robots, FANUC CRX, KUKA LBR iisy and Doosan can all be financed through UK asset lenders.

What are typical cobot finance rates in the UK?

Cobot finance rates in October 2026 range from around 5.5% APR for established businesses through clearing banks to 7–13% through specialist and fast-turnaround lenders. The rate depends on your credit profile, the cobot value and the lender.

Can I get cobot finance with no deposit?

Yes. Several UK lenders offer zero-deposit cobot finance for qualifying businesses, including Close Brothers, Aldermore, Shawbrook, United Trust Bank and Nucleus. This is particularly useful for smaller-ticket cobot deployments.

What is the minimum finance amount for a cobot?

Most UK asset lenders will consider cobot finance from £10,000–£15,000. Nucleus Commercial Finance and some challenger banks will consider smaller amounts. For cobots under £10,000, hire purchase from a point-of-sale lender or a business loan may be more appropriate.

Can I finance a cobot with grippers and vision systems?

Yes. Most lenders will finance the full cobot system including end-effectors, grippers, vision systems and integration costs, provided these are included on a single supplier invoice or quotation.

Asset finance for business purposes is not regulated by the FCA. Rates shown are indicative as at October 2026 and depend on credit profile, term, asset and deposit. We act as a credit broker, not a lender. Your asset may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments.
