AOC Holder Fleet Finance UK

Fleet finance for UK CAA Part-135 and Part-121 operators. HP, finance lease and multi-aircraft facilities.

UK Air Operator Certificate holders face unique financing challenges. Unlike private or business aviation, commercial operators must satisfy lenders not just on the asset but on the entire regulatory, operational and financial framework within which the aircraft will operate. Lenders require sight of your AOC, operations specifications, maintenance approvals, safety management system documentation and - critically - your financial track record as a commercial operator.

Fleet financing for AOC holders is more complex than single-aircraft transactions. Multi-aircraft facilities need to account for the different aircraft types, ages and values within a fleet, the phased delivery of new or replacement aircraft, and the ongoing capital requirements of a growing commercial operation. DBF has experience structuring fleet facilities that provide the flexibility AOC holders need while satisfying lenders' requirements for security and documentation.

UK CAA Part-135 operators (non-scheduled commercial air transport) and Part-121 operators (scheduled air transport) have different regulatory profiles and this affects how lenders assess them. Part-121 operators with scheduled traffic rights and IATA membership typically command the most competitive rates. Part-135 operators - charter, cargo, medevac, air taxi - have more diverse revenue profiles which require careful presentation to lenders.

The key to successful fleet finance for AOC holders is presenting the full picture compellingly: not just the aircraft values and deposit, but the revenue model, contract coverage, management team experience, safety record, and growth trajectory. DBF prepares detailed information memoranda for commercial fleet finance cases to ensure lenders have everything they need to make a positive credit decision quickly.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can I finance a mixed fleet of different aircraft types?

Yes. Multi-aircraft facilities covering mixed fleets are available from several lenders. Each aircraft will be assessed on its own merits but the facility can be structured as a single agreement with staggered drawdowns as aircraft are acquired.

Does my AOC need to be fully issued to apply for fleet finance?

For most lenders, yes. Some will consider pre-issuance finance where the AOC application is well advanced and the management team has a strong track record. Shawbrook and Paragon are the most flexible on this.

What is the typical LTV for a commercial fleet facility?

60–75% depending on the aircraft types, operator covenant and revenue contracts. Lenders may offer different LTVs for different aircraft within the same fleet.

Can I use fleet finance to replace ageing aircraft progressively?

Yes. Revolving fleet facilities or facilities with substitution clauses allow you to replace aircraft as they reach the end of their useful commercial life without requiring a completely new facility each time.

How important is my safety record when applying for commercial fleet finance?

Very important. A clean CAA audit history and current SMS are positive factors. Operators with recent enforcement notices or significant findings may face higher rates or declined applications until the issues are resolved.

Asset finance for business purposes is not regulated by the FCA. Rates shown are indicative as at October 2026 and depend on credit profile, term, aircraft and deposit. We act as a credit broker, not a lender. Your aircraft may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments.
