What affects the rate on a used van?
Vehicle age is the primary driver of rate on used van finance - older vehicles have less certain residual values and a shorter remaining useful life, so lenders charge a premium. Mileage matters too: most lenders prefer vans under 100,000 miles; some will go to 150,000 miles for well-maintained vehicles with full service history.
Your credit profile still plays a major role. Even on an older van, an established business with clean credit will access significantly better rates than a newer business or one with adverse credit history. The deposit you put down also affects the rate - a 20% deposit typically gives you access to a wider range of lenders and better pricing.
The asset value is relevant too - most lenders have a minimum deal size of £5,000 for used vans. Very low-value used vans (under £5,000) may require a specialist lender.
