Does Lloyds Bank Offer Equity Release?

Lloyds Bank does not directly offer equity release or lifetime mortgages.

Important: Equity release is a long-term commitment and will reduce the value of your estate. It may affect entitlement to means-tested benefits. Independent financial and legal advice is required. All plans recommended are from Equity Release Council approved lenders. Your home may be repossessed if you do not maintain required payments on a secured loan.

The options we compare

Why Lloyds Doesn't Offer Equity Release

Lloyds Bank has chosen to focus on their mainstream mortgage and savings products rather than entering the specialist equity release market. Many high-street banks take this approach - equity release is a specialist product requiring specialist underwriting and adviser qualifications.

Aviva - The Established Alternative

Aviva is one of the UK's most established equity release lenders - 25+ years, £11.9bn released, winner of the 2026 What Mortgage Best Equity Release Lender award. A trusted alternative to a high-street bank.

Legal & General - Award Winner

Legal & General Home Finance won Best Provider at the 2026 Equity Release Awards. Both lifetime mortgage and RIO products available. Recognised by many Lloyds customers from their insurance and investment products.

Just - For Health Conditions

If you have health conditions, Just's enhanced plans may release more than standard plans from any other provider. A major advantage if you have qualifying conditions.

Canada Life, More2Life, Pure Retirement

Three further competitive ERC-approved equity release lenders with strong product ranges and competitive rates. We compare all against each other and against Aviva and L&G for every enquiry.

Independent Whole-Market Advice

Because Lloyds does not offer equity release, you need a specialist. We provide independent advice across all ERC-approved lenders - recommending the plan that is right for your circumstances, not the lender with the biggest advertising budget.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Lloyds told me to "speak to an adviser" - what does that mean?

Lloyds will refer you to an equity release specialist because they do not offer the product themselves. We are that specialist - an FCA-regulated independent broker who accesses all ERC-approved equity release lenders and provides whole-of-market advice.

Can I get equity release from Halifax (part of Lloyds Banking Group)?

Halifax is also part of Lloyds Banking Group and similarly does not directly offer equity release or lifetime mortgages. The same applies - you need a specialist broker to access the equity release market.

Is equity release from a specialist safer than getting it from a high-street bank?

Equity release products recommended by FCA-regulated, ERC-approved advisers and provided by ERC-approved lenders carry all the consumer protections of the Equity Release Council - regardless of whether the lender is a high-street bank or a specialist. The key protections are the same.

Can I use my Lloyds current account or savings as part of my equity release application?

Your existing banking relationship with Lloyds does not affect the equity release application. The application is assessed on your property value, age, and health. You continue to use your Lloyds current account throughout and after completion.

Will switching to equity release affect my Lloyds savings or pension?

Equity release does not directly affect savings or pensions held with Lloyds. However, releasing a lump sum may affect means-tested benefits if the capital pushes you above thresholds. We assess this as part of our advice.
