  • Krone - Profi Liner curtainsider, Box Liner, Cool Liner fridge trailer
  • Kögel - Multi, Cargo, Maxx - curtainsiders and box trailers

Standalone vs Bundled Trailer Finance

Most major lenders will finance a trailer on a standalone basis without requiring the tractor unit to be in the same facility. Close Brothers is particularly strong on standalone trailer finance. Bundling the tractor and trailer into a single facility can sometimes achieve a slightly better rate, but is not always necessary or preferable - particularly if the tractor unit is already financed elsewhere or owned outright.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is the best trailer finance rate available in the UK in October 2026?

The lowest indicative rates start at 4% APR from Lombard (NatWest) for established fleet operators with strong credit profiles financing quality trailers. Most hauliers financing a single curtainsider or box trailer will see rates in the 5–9% range depending on their credit profile and asset age.

Can I finance a trailer without a tractor unit?

Yes. Most specialist lenders including Close Brothers and Lombard will finance a trailer on a standalone basis. You do not need to finance the tractor unit in the same facility or with the same lender.

Which trailer brands hold their value best?

Schmitz Cargobull and Krone are generally regarded as the strongest second-hand value holders in the UK market, followed by Kögel and Wielton. UK-manufactured trailers from Montracon and SDC also have reasonable residual values. Lenders are familiar with all of these and will reflect strong residual value in the rate offered.

Asset finance for business purposes is not regulated by the FCA. Rates shown are indicative as at October 2026 and depend on credit profile, term, vehicle and deposit. We act as a credit broker, not a lender. Your vehicle may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments.
