The 7.5-tonne rigid is the smallest vehicle requiring a Category C driving licence and an Operator's Licence. Used extensively for urban deliveries, chilled distribution, supermarket fulfilment and trade, 7.5t trucks are among the most practical and commonly financed commercial vehicles in the UK. New 7.5t trucks - DAF LF, Mercedes Atego, MAN TGL, Volvo FL - typically cost £50,000–£90,000.

Do I need a full C licence to finance a 7.5t truck?
Lenders are not driving licence authorities, but most will want confirmation that the vehicle will be operated legally. A 7.5t truck requires a Cat C licence. If you are applying for your licence, mention this in your application.
Can a sole trader finance a 7.5t truck?
Yes. 7.5t trucks are popular among sole traders in construction, haulage and trade. Criteria vary by lender - some require 2 years' accounts, others are more flexible. Deposits of 15–25% can help in marginal cases.
What is the difference between a box van and a curtainsider at 7.5t?
A box van has fixed aluminium or GRP sides - secure and weatherproof. A curtainsider has retractable curtains - faster loading with a forklift. The body type does not significantly affect the finance rate at 7.5t.
How much does a 7.5t truck cost to finance monthly?
For a £65,000 7.5t truck at 5.0% APR over 5 years with 10% deposit, monthly payments are approximately £1,050–£1,150. We will produce exact figures based on your chosen vehicle and deposit.
