FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can I get finance on a low-loader?

Yes. Low-loaders (typically step-frame trailers with hydraulic ramps) are financed as specialist HGV assets. Rates are fractionally higher due to specialist nature. Contact us for a specific quote.

Can a flatbed carry abnormal loads legally?

Oversized loads require Special Types General Order (STGO) compliance, possibly police escorts and route surveys. The vehicle itself does not require different finance - the abnormal load permit is a separate matter.

What is the difference between a flatbed and a low-loader?

A flatbed has a flat deck at standard trailer height. A low-loader (step-frame) has the deck lower than the fifth wheel height, reducing overall height for tall machinery. Low-loaders are more expensive new and used.

Can I finance a flatbed with a HIAB crane?

Yes. HIAB or Palfinger crane-bodied flatbeds are financed as a whole asset. The crane body adds value and complexity. Rates are marginally higher than standard flatbed - from 5.5% APR (new, strong credit).
